Kitchen Rules
- If you leave anything behind after leaving the kitchen, it must be marked using a room number clip.
- Drying of kitchen utensils is only permitted on the drying rack.
- After using the stove or the table you must clean the surface.
- Do not use metal utensils on the non-stick pans. Do not put the non-stick pans in the dishwasher.
- Everyone is expected to contribute in turning on the dishwasher and emptying it. Often the time it would take you to clean your plates is similar to the time it takes to empty the entire dishwasher. Therefore the dishwasher is a massive time saver, while also consuming less drinking water.
Trash Duty
The assignment list covers 15 weeks. This means everyone of the 15 inhabitants has to do 1 week. Be quick to select a week that suits you best. In case you are not able to finish your duty, for example because you are not in Karlsruhe the whole week, you are responsible for finding a person that replaces you. Switching is allowed. Please communicate with your floormates.
Daily chores
- check trash bins in kitchen and empty if necessary
- put a clean rag in the kitchen and put the other one in the laundry box
- hang a clean towel in the bathroom and put the other one in the laundry box
At the end of the week
- dispose glass waste
- dispose carton waste
- empty the bins in the bathroom
- clean the shower drains
- make sure there are at least 4 trash bags for the next person on the list
- rinse the organic waste bin (you may use water from the tap behind K4 next to the ramp or the tap left of the K4 entrance)

Floor Fund
Current floor fund manager: Max
Purpose
The purpose of the floor fund is to cover expenses that benefit everyone on the floor. Every inhabitant of i6 pays 7 EUR per month into the floor fund.
Regular expenses
This includes onions, garlic, potatoes, spices, cleaning equipment, Public Broadcast Contribution, moving-in dinners and more.
Large, unexpected expenses
This includes washing machine, dishwasher. The goal is to always have at least 500 EUR on the balance to be able to pay large, unexpected expenses from savings. Therefore large expenses are distributed over years of savings and the burden on the inhabitants at the time of need is reduced.
Large, planed expenses for the benefit of everyone
This includes new grill, new couch, bulk spice orders, new kitchen equipment.
Balance
The monthly contribution from every inhabitant as well as all expenses are recorded using Splitwise. When a floormate owes more then the threshold of 50 EUR to the fund, the fund manager sends a notification. This way most floormates only have to make a transaction every few months. This threshold is important to reduce the risk that a person is not able or willing to pay the floor contribution.
The payments from and to the floor fund are recorded in a spreadsheet by the fund manager. This spreadsheet is available on GitHub. It provides a log of the transactions and the current balance.
